Father Crispin

Father Crispin and Matthew

Father Crispin with my son Matthew at his First Holy Communion in 2011

We are so privileged to have Father Crispin Okoth as our pastor at our church, St. John the Evangelist in Seattle. When deciding where to get married we were faced with the dilemma of wanting to get married in Tuscany but also wanting Father Crispin to officiate at the wedding.

Fortunately, we were able to have the best of both worlds when Father Crispin accepted our invitation from us to fly him to Italy to celebrate our wedding.

Father Crispin is from a small village in Kenya near the city of Mumbassa and first came to our parish in 2008 after our very popular pastor, Father Bill McKee was transferred to another parish. I have to say I had my doubts that I could connect to a priest from half a world away when he arrived back then. Boy, was I wrong!

Although I first had a little difficulty understanding his Kenyan accent, I was almost immediately taken to this amazing person. He is so warm and genuine and his sermons are so inspiring and range from his personal accounts of growing up in a poor village in Kenya, his personal relationship with God and the Holy Spirit, his taking of biblical passages and making them real in today’s world, and his coaxing us all to get involved and make a difference in the world.

We are so thankful to have Father Crispin officiate our wedding and are truly thankful to both God and Father Crispin for our great fortune.
